Fleas & Ticks

Fleas are small and wingless. They have long powerful legs and can jump eight inches high and as far as 16 inches forward. Fleas can and do infest homes and other areas that humans and animals share. They are found infesting carpet, furniture and cracks. They infest yards, barns, kennels, playgrounds and the crawl space areas of buildings and homes.

Fleas are an important pest due to their ability to carry disease organisms. When early signs of flea activity are observed control procedures should begin immediately. The flea’s ability to reproduce and multiply is well documented and the sooner control efforts begin the sooner elimination can be achieved.

Fleas have a 4 stage life cycle, therefore to control these pests the cycle must be broken. Our technicians are trained to determine the magnitude of the infestation and the treatment needed. Our treatment will have an immediate effect on the flea population, as well as provide a residual benefit that allows long-term control.

The cooperation and participation of the property residents are of great importance when performing a flea treatment procedure. All rugs, carpet and furniture should be aggressively vacuumed and the bag sealed and disposed of. All floor areas should be cleaned and loose items such as toys and shoes removed. Pet bedding will need to be removed and disposed of and/or cleaned. Any pets will need to be temporarily removed and treated. After a brief waiting period of 3 – 6 hours the items can be replaced and the pets returned.

We also perform outside treatments when and where needed and have often found exterior locations to be the source of the interior problems.
